Network Engineer

 

The Network Engineer is accountable for defining the technical requirements, RF design, implementation, customer acceptance and optimization of Sigfox IoT Network Coverage Solutions. Key responsibilities include radio frequency (RF) planning, Sigfox hardware and software in-depth knowledge, and on-site equipment installation and customer support. The incumbent will collaborate closely with colleagues across the various functional areas of engineering, deployment, sale, and customer support teams.

 

 

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Use RF Planning tools to produce RF designs and network coverage assessments following sound engineering principles while adhering to customer requirements.

  • Collaborate with the Deployment and Sales teams in developing and executing the annual Build Plan by evaluate and select site candidates from various host and tower companies site portfolios.

  • Ownership of a cluster of sites or a geographic area for site maintenance, problem troubleshooting and resolution, and new sites commissioning.

  • Installing, repairing, maintaining, and testing Sigfox equipment deployed in the field.

  • Install communications equipment in offices, hotels, venues and buildings. This can include building rooftop installations where it’s safe to do so.

  • Ensure high quality standards for installation through review and approval of Close Out Packages (COPs), and random on-site checks.

  • Propose efficient processes and procedures for continuous improvement in areas of Installation, Commissioning, Decommissioning, Integration, Testing, Troubleshooting and Maintenance of Sigfox equipment.

  • Monitor, analyze, troubleshoot, and evaluate network-related problems such as: Interference identification and mitigation.

  • Management and quality control of site and planning databases, including the deployment project management tool and database.

  • Follow required incident management, change management and service request management policies and procedures and documentation requirements.

  • Keep records of maintenance, repairs and installations, and produce reports.

  • Work outside normal business hours, including nights and weekends to support network and customer deployments.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications :

  • 4-year Engineering degree in Electrical or Telecommunications Engineering.

  • 4 years of network experience with a U.S. telecommunications company.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Excellent planning and priority-setting skills.

  • Understanding of Radio Frequency (RF) propagation theory and the site design process.

  • Experience supporting sales and customer requests for network-related inquiries.
